Full cognitive educational assessment

Service Description

A Cognitive Educational Assessment explores the student’s verbal and nonverbal cognitive abilities (known as IQ), receptive language, visual and auditory processing speed, memory and phonological skills. I also look at the student’s current attainment and academic abilities. These include Literacy skills (reading speed, single word reading accuracy, phonological skills, comprehension, spelling and handwriting speed) and Numeracy skills (Mathematical computation, Math reasoning and fluency). Where necessary I can administer a test of visual-motor integration. Rating scales related to attention and executive functioning, including social emotional functioning are provided to parents/caregivers’ and the student’s teachers. A full measurement of working memory completes the cognitive profile. This assessment can take up to a full morning, or two, with rest breaks provided. Once these results are interpreted, you will receive a comprehensive report and verbal feedback including where required, a discussion with your child’s school. The recommendations are a helpful guidance for both in school and at home and can support intervention and specialist teaching. Exam Access Arrangements such as extra time, where appropriate, are stipulated in the report. Prior to the assessment, background information is requested via a google form. Past school reports and communication with the pupil’s school support the overall assessment process.
